Money & the psychology of money
Have you Noticed: No one asks for money without a story!
Have you ever noticed that no one ever asks for money without a story? And it seems that the story must be really sad to achieve maximum effect. A man “sold” me a story about how he had walked from some village and was really tired and needed money to go back home. I “bought” that story for about twenty bucks. A week later he was still selling that same story. Needless to say, I did not buy. But five years later, I met him and he was still selling the same story to others. Well, he is obviously in the business of selling sad stories for his survival …
There are however, people, closer to you selling you stories everyday and you fall for them. Your relatives, friends, children … How many stories have you bought and how much have they cost you? On the other hand, how many stories have you sold?
On the flip side, if these heart-wrenching stories have siphoned money out of your pocket, what kind of story will you have to weave to get money for your projects? What is a business plan but a business story? Is yours convincing?
